Indian Tyre Industry Overview:

India Tire Industries consists of a huge market consumer base, they are used in all types of vehicles which include passenger cars, buses, military vehicles, motorcycles, trucks, etc. The demand for tires is primarily catalyzed from two end-user segments

  1. OEMs
    • OEM segment demand is driven by new automobile sales trend
  2. Replacement segment.
    • The Replacement market currently dominates the tire market accounting for most of the total sales.

Indian Tyre Industry has 41 Tyre companies and 66 manufacturing plants. In the Indian tire market, tire companies produce in the last 5 years was 8,654.22 lakhs. during last year the production was -8% decline in 1767.95 lakhs compare to 1919.81 lakhs.

2/3 Wheeler Tyre Production

In the Domestic Tyre market, consumption was high in India due to some pandemic reasons Like Vehicle Industries moved to BS-VI, Automation Industries, and COVID the market has declined compared to previous years. In the tire market, tire company’s products in the last 5 years were 4777.5 lakhs. during last year the production was -8% decline in 997.65 lakhs compare to 1079.12 lakhs.

Total Tyre Export from India.

In the Tire Export market, the companies produce in the last 5 years were 1594 lakhs. During last year the production was 9% increased in 335.79 lakhs from 306.93 lakhs. In the 2/3 wheeler tire segment, the export from India was 36.98 lakhs which was a -4 % decline from 38.56 lakhs.

Tyre Industries Association:

Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association: works towards promoting and safeguarding the interests of the tire industry in India. ATMA as a conduit between the Government and the industry, act as the industry’s interface with the media, opinion leaders, NGOs, and other industry associations around the world so as to present the perspective of the Indian tire industry on different issues.

Indian Tyre Technical Advisory Committee (ITTAC): is a specialized resource of the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers’ Association (ATMA), ITTAC’s close interface and interaction with international and national standards organizations and proactive engagement with the Indian tire industry has enabled it.

The raw material used in Tire Industry:

  • Natural Rubbers: It is the main raw material used in the tire company. in the rubber industry, the guideline and interactions are Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC).
  • Carbon Black: It is one of the key raw materials in the manufacturing process and is used as a filler in rubber products.
